Italian giants Juventus have kept a close eye on Lyon’s star right-back Malo Gusto (19) recently, as have Bayern Munich. His current price tag, however, is warding off potential suitors, as reported by Ignazio Genuardi.

The 19-year-old has appeared 14 times in Ligue 1 this season and has been dubbed an exciting talent. This has attracted the attention of several high-profile European clubs over the past few months.

Most recently, Gusto’s name had been floated around at Newcastle United, but they too are understood to have qualms over his eye-watering valuation. While 18-year-old Iván Fresneda of Real Valladolid is the cheaper option on their radar, Kieran Trippier continues to captain The Magpies from right back. Currently in 3rd place, Trippier’s men are surprising many critics.

Lyon have not been able to reach the heights of 2019/20 when they reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, getting knocked out in the quarter finals of the Europa League last season by West Ham United. Newcastle, Juventus, and Bayern Munich all currently sit in favourable league positions, poised to gain European football next season. Gusto’s talent is evident: where he will employ it remains a question to be answered.
