For the first time ever, Shinsuke Nakamura is WWE Intercontinental Champion.

The King of Strong-Style kicked off WWE Extreme Rules on Sunday night in Philadelphia, scoring a big victory over Finn Balor to win the coveted title for the first time in his already legendary career.

Nakamura adds the Intercontinental Championship to his two reigns as WWE United States Champion, two reigns as NXT Champion, and his 2018 Royal Rumble victory. However, this is certainly not the first time he has held any Intercontinental title…

Prior to signing with WWE, Nakamura was not only a 4-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, but a 5-time IWGP Intercontinental Champion. Many consider him the star who put the secondary belt on the map, elevating to the extent that it actually headlined Wrestle Kingdom 8 over the world title.
