According to La Provence Marseille will not be looking to re-sign former midfielder Florian Thauvin (29) following the termination of his contract with Mexican club Tigres.

Thuavin, a 2018 World Cup winner, formerly played in France with Grenoble, Bastia, and then Lille before a move to Marseille in 2015. From 2015 to 2017 the attacking midfielder played in the Premier League with Newcastle United, before moving back to Marseille. 

On his return he became a key figure for the Olympians, making 137 appearances and scoring 52 goals, winning the 2018 World Cup with Les Bleus in the same period of time. He moved to Mexican side Tigres to link up for a period of time with striker André-Pierre Gignac, also formerly of Marseille. Thuavin made 35 made appearances for Tigres, scoring eight goals in the process.

Whilst rumours in Marseille’s fanbase were indicating a potential return, they have appeared to be unfounded, as La Provence reports.
