Speaking to the press on his return to Paris Saint-Germain training, Lionel Messi said that he was working in preparing himself “physically, training well, to find rhythm to be ready”  when Christophe Galtier and his staff finally call upon the World Cup winner for a return to action for PSG. This follows two weeks of rest following the World Cup final.

“I want to thank everyone for the welcome I received, from all the staff, my teammates and the staff – I’m happy.” said the Argentine – as transcribed by L’Équipe – after receiving a warm welcome from the rest of the PSG squad with a guard of honor as he entered the training pitch at the Camp des Loges.

The whole squad were involved at the Camp des Loges yesterday ahead of the Coupe de France match against Châteauroux on Friday for Christophe Galtier’s men where Messi is unlikely to feature. The team had been given a day’s rest yesterday following the trip up north to face Lens (3-1) on Sunday night.
