— Tom Phillips, Corey Graves and Byron Saxton welcome us to the Barclays Center for a “special edition” of Smackdown Live following the “most watched WWE SummerSlam event in history”.

OPENING SEGMENT

The Miz and Maryse made their way out looking completely devestated, to the point of tears. The A-Lister had trouble speaking as the crowd chanted “DANIEL BRYAN!” over and over again. He finally choked out that he had some terrible news, and after discussing it with his wife and taking a look at his life, he has decided… to never wrestle Daniel Bryan ever again!

Daniel Bryan’s music hit to finally cut off Miz’s endless rambling, and the former world champion had just one thing to say: “COWARD!” Miz screamed at him that the record books won’t say that he’s a coward, because the only thing they definitively state is that he beat Daniel Bryan, 1-2-3 in the middle of the ring at SummerSlam.

Bryan laughed at this and called his rival “a wannabe Hollywood star cosplaying as a professional wrestler”. Maryse actually got involved and told him to shut and retire already, and while he’s at it, maybe he should change his name to “Daniel Bella”.

Somehow Daniel didn’t find that very funny, but before he could say anything about it Brie Bella’s music hit and the former Divas Champion sprinted to the ring AND ATTACKED THE MIZ with wild rights and lefts. Maryse escaped the ring and Bryan aided his wife in dumping the Must-See Superstar over the ropes.

Bryan announced that before he was so rudely interrupted, he was about to share a message from Smackdown General Manager Paige! At Hell in a Cell, the two will face off one more time, but they will not be alone. It will be Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella against The Miz and Maryse!

RANDY ORTON vs. JEFF HARDY

Hardy got in a few shots early on including one of his signature dropkicks, but it was clear that Orton was the more fresh superstar after not having to perform at SummerSlam this past weekend. Most of the match actually took place during the commercial break unfortunately, with Orton seemingly controlling the entire time after sending his opponent hard into the steel steps, then dumping him over the announce table.

After several minutes Hardy rallied back, fighting out of a side headlock with a jawbreaker. He hit an inverted atomic drop and his signature split-leg leg drop, but Orton caught him climbing the ropes and started firing with with brutal right hands. He looped his finger through the Charismatic Enigma’s empty ear holes and wrenched away, until Jeff did the only thing he could think of to make it stop – he kicked The Viper square in the balls. Apparently he did learn something from Nakamura…

Winner via DQ: Randy Orton
