Ligue 1 side RC Lens have confirmed the signing of Ivorian international midfielder Seko Fofana from Serie A club Udinese for a reported €10m fee, which represents a transfer record for RCL.

Fofana, who has signed a 4-year contract with the French 1st division side, had the following to say:

“I am today a box-to-box player, capable of going from one box to another and do that repetitiously, dribble, score goals but also defend.”

“I know Corentin Jean very well, with whom I was in the French national teams. I played with Yannick Cahuzac and Jean-Louis Leca. I also know Loïc Badé, because when we were young, we trained together all the time. I have already come up against a Franck Haise team when he was a coach at Rennes. I remembered that he was a very good educator, who tried to elevate his players’ levels of maturity and qualities.”

“I can’t wait to meet the whole squad to adapt as quickly as possible and to try to return well physically. Even though I only stopped competitive action a short time ago, I need time to rediscover rhythm. I have faith in the staff to prepare me with the right fitness program.”
