As revealed by sources contacted by Get French Football News and confirmed by L’Équipe, the Frenchman was also in discussions to join Greek side Olympiacos but has eventually decided to become the new sporting director at Serie B side Parma.

Rumours persisted during the second-half of last season that the relationship between Fournier and then Nice manager Christophe Galtier had deteriorated. Post-season, Fournier then openly criticised Galtier, saying, “you never know a person until you’ve worked with them.”

Ultimately, both ended up departing the club. Galiter left for PSG and not long after Fournier also left the club. That left Nice scrambling to bring in a temporary replacement to deal with the current transfer window. Iain Moody was brought on, although it is unclear who will take the role in the long term.
