On Sunday, PSG smashed Ligue 1 title rivals Lyon 4-2 away from home, putting Les Parisiens back on top of the league table.

Key Considerations:

Zimbabwean international striker Tino Kadewere has so regularly been a big game player this season, but he was comprehensively shut out by PSG left-back Abdou Diallo. As a result, only Mattia de Sciglio made more than 5 passes to him on Sunday night, OL appeared to realise early that the right flank was not going to be a source of attacking joy.

Although Marco Verratti was nominally the #10 in the 4-2-3-1, it was actually Moise Kean whose average position was in that spot – this speaks to the quality of the Italian international’s tracking back and counter-pressing, but also his positional intelligence when PSG were in possession, occupying OL defenders and midfielders to allow Kylian Mbappé more room.

Lyon’s play was largely incredibly narrow in the first half, this was largely down to Memphis Depay calling for the ball regularly from the likes of Maxence Caqueret and then being dispossessed, meaning that Tino Kadewere, Karl Toko Ekambi and Maxwel Cornet were regularly left out of move construction.
