Speaking after his team’s draw against Lyon on Wednesday evening, Brest manager Eric Roy has announced that the club has completed the signing of Loïc Rémy on a free transfer until the end of the season.

The former Chelsea man had arrived in Brittany this month to train with the team and keep his fitness up, having been out of contract since his departure from Çaykur Rizespor this summer. He failed to find the net in his second season with the Turkish outfit but score seven in his first campaign, after his arrival from Lille.

Roy has indicated that the former Lyon, Nice and Marseille forward, also a former French international and Premier League winner with Chelsea, would not be available for selection straight away. Instead, his former teammate with Les Aiglons would only return to action for a period that may only span the final months of the season, in what the Brest manager has described as a “cherry on the cake”.
