— We reported over the weekend that Lacey Evans was pulled over by Edmonton police for speeding and she proceeded to record the encounter, while staying in character for the duration of the video (Watch Video Here). The clip went viral in Canada and shockingly, many people believed that it was all “real” and that Evans was disrespectful and thought of herself to be above the law. In response, Evans released the following statement to CTV:

“My character is a sassy bad guy so I play the role often. The general public now believe this interaction was real when the officer and I planned to start recording and have him walk up again with the citation in hand. As prior law enforcement myself, I didn’t expect people to honestly believe this was real considering I am an entertainer and was in town for a performance.”

— Meanwhile local RCMP have only stated that the original traffic stop was legitimate, while neither confirming or denying that the officer played along with Evans’ request to basically film a promo. Cpl Chris Warren had this to say: “That’s news to me. I know the original traffic stop was legitimate and I don’t have any further information at this time.”
