The British royals headed to France on Friday to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme at a special service, and the Duchess of Cambridge was a vision in an elegant lace peplum dress and black fascinator as they paid their respects with French president Francois Hollande.
The 34-year-old, who was also joined by Prince William, Prince Harry, and David Cameron at the Thiepval Memorial, turned heads in the flattering cream bespoke number, which featured delicate light lace over black fabric. The knee-length dress accentuated the mom-of-two’s petite figure with a prim Peter Pan collar, mid-length fitted sleeves, tailored shoulders, and a sweet peplum detail.
Kate Middleton swept her mahogany locks into a chic updo, which she crowned with an elegant black Lock & Co. headpiece that featured mesh detailing. The duchess finished off her look with pearl earrings, a black clutch, and sleek pumps.

The simple coloring of the royal’s dress for the occasion allowed for the symbolic poppy and cornflower pinned to her top–worn by all the royals to commemorate the fallen soldiers–to be front and center in her ensemble.
