As an important part of the anti-wear field, wear resistant ceramics are often used in heavy-wear industries such as ports, mines, cement, lithium batteries, and steel. Our common wear-resistant ceramics mostly exist in the form of wear-resistant ceramic sheets, which are pasted as wear-resistant linings in wear areas. Wear-resistant ceramic sheets come in many shapes, such as square, triangle, rhombus, hexagon, circle, and special shapes. So what are the differences between wear-resistant ceramic sheets of different shapes? How to choose?

First, let’s talk about the differences between wear resistant ceramic tile linerof different shapes, which are mainly reflected in five aspects-impact resistance, wear resistance, adhesion to materials, installation difficulty and aesthetic appearance.

1. Impact resistance

Impact resistance mainly depends on factors such as material performance, thickness, impact angle, etc. However, when these factors are almost the same, different shapes will bear different stresses, which will lead to different impact resistance of the material.

For example, for wear-resistant ceramic sheets of the same material and thickness, circular ceramic sheets bear evenly dispersed stress and are not easily broken, while square and triangular ceramic sheets are easily shattered at the corners. In comparison, round ceramic sheets have less resistance. The impact capability is stronger than square and triangular ones.

In addition, most ceramic sheets are used in combination with rubber. When triangular, square, and hexagonal ceramic sheets are vulcanized, there are few gaps in the middle, less rubber on the surface, and relatively weak impact resistance. The circular ceramic pieces have large gaps between them and more rubber exposed on the surface, so they have stronger impact resistance.

So in summary, under the same conditions, the closer to a circle, the stronger the impact resistance of the ceramic piece, and vice versa.

2: Wear resistance

For composite linings, the more rubber on the surface, the stronger the impact resistance, but the weaker the wear resistance. Therefore, according to the above theory, the lining made of circular ceramic sheets has more rubber on the surface and poor wear resistance. Triangular and square ceramic sheets have high ceramic coverage and relatively strong wear resistance.

3: Stickiness to materials

The more and larger gaps there are in ceramic sheets, the easier it is for materials to stick to each other, which may lead to material blocking. In other words, round ceramic sheets are prone to blocking, while triangular and square ceramic sheets have fewer gaps and are less likely to block.

4: Installation difficulty

The wear of ceramic sheets mostly starts from the edges of the ceramic sheets, so in order to extend the service life of the ceramic sheets and disperse the flow of materials, staggered seam pasting is usually used when porcelain is pasted. Ceramic sheets with regular shapes and straight edges, such as square and triangular ceramic sheets, are easier to install, while circular ceramic sheets, hexagonal ceramic sheets and special-shaped ceramic sheets are more difficult to install.

5; Beautiful appearance

Some customers will have a special preference for a certain shape, or they will choose their favorite shape of ceramic pieces based on working conditions, application occasions, etc., or even specially customize special-shaped ceramic pieces. These fine and special porcelain can be completed according to customer needs.

Once you understand the differences between different shapes of ceramic sheets, it will be easier to choose. The main thing is to choose according to the working conditions and your own preferences.

In working conditions with greater wear and strong stickiness of the material station, try to choose triangular, square, and diamond-shaped ceramic sheets, while in working conditions with greater impact and less wear, you can choose round ceramic sheets.
