“I feel a lot more comfortable in the role this time around. Before, maybe there was a sense of apology to it. Like, ‘sorry I’m the champ guys!’ Maybe there was a sense of that. I had never had [a title]before, not in WWE. I worked so hard for it, but it’s all an internal game. The crowd wanted me to be the champ, at the time, but there was always a sense of me being overly nice. Am I stepping on anyones’ toes? Is anyone offended? I think that was the way that I used to be. I was always such a people pleaser, and I don’t know that as hard as I worked – I think I was always worried. Do I deserve this? Am I good enough to hold this?”

ON WHAT HELPED CHANGE HER PERSPECTIVE AS CHAMPION:

“At the time, there was Survivor Series and I was the champ. They made Nikki Bella the team captain. I mean, Nikki’s great and everything, but there was still that like – ‘hey guys, I’m the champ. I should be the captain.’ And I think that was on me, because there was that doubt, and I think that could be sensed. Me being too nice, me walking on egg shells. You gotta go in there and own stuff. You have to won it. You have to believe it, and then everybody else will believe it. And I don’t know that I fully did, so that was on me.”
