As reported by L’Équipe, Ligue 1 club Marseille have redoubled their efforts in the chase to sign Manchester United defender Eric Bailly this summer.

The 28-year-old centre-back has also been of interest to Monaco, who were looking into a loan move for the player earlier this week, and are still interested say the sports daily. As are Lyon, who were considering a €10m move for the Ivorian centre-back earlier this summer.

Marseille, however, have been in contact with the player, who is under contract in Manchester until 2024, for the last two weeks over a move. United want a permanent transfer, rather than a loan with an option to buy as has been mentioned. Bailly, however, sees AC Milan as his preferred destination while Marseille had also been interested in the centre-back back in January.

Since moving to Old Trafford in 2016 from Villarreal, Bailly has played 113 games, scoring once and adding one assist in that time across all competitions.
