Ariana Grande may not have actually attended the Grammys, but she didn’t let her custom Zac Posen ball gown go to waste.
The Grammy winner decided to stay at home after getting into an argument with producers over her proposed performance, but still got all dressed up in her Cinderlla-esque baby blue strapless ball gown and then posed for an Instagram photo shoot. Now, fans are speculating that her choice in dress may have been a nod to her ex boyfriend, the late rapper Mac Miller.

In May of last year, Grande claimed that Miller’s explicit song, “Cinderella” was about her. The song was off of his album, The Divine Feminine and filled with explicit lyrics about the couple’s more intimate moments in the bedroom.
While her gown clearly evokes the princess vibes, designer Zac Posen also gave a nod to the classic Disney film in his caption of the dress on Instagram. “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” he wrote alongside a photo of Grande in the gown.
Posen also quoted Rodgers and Hammerstein’s lyrics from the song “Impossible” in Cinderella the musical, writing “Impossible things are happening every day.”
Miller’s dog, Myron, also made an appearance in the photos Grande posted posing in the gown.

And as fans put all of the Cinderella and Miller connections together, they started flooding Twitter.
Miller, who died five months ago at age 26 from an accidental overdose, was nominated for best rap album (his final) for Swimming, but lost to Cardi B‘s Invasion of Privacy. And Grande, who was live-tweeting from home expressed her frustration.
“F—” and “trash,” she wrote in a now-deleted Tweet. She later clarified that she wasn’t upset with Cardi who was not the “trash” to which she was referring.
“Nothing to do w her. good for her. i promise. i’m sorry,” she later wrote on Twitter.
She told fans in another message: “She’s not at all and that’s not what i meant and u know that.”

A source confirmed to PEOPLE, “It has nothing to do with Cardi,” adding that Grande “was very upset” that Miller lost when the Grammys invited his parents to attend the show.
His parents, Karen Meyers and Mark McCormick, did attend, and Miller was honored during the In Memoriam segment of the show.
In response to another tweet about why the Grammys did not award Miller knowing his parents were at the show, Grande wrote, “this. this is what i meant. karen was gonna have a green suit made.”
She eventually ended the night (in which she won best pop vocal album for her record Sweetener) by cuddling Miller‘s dog, Myron.
In a clip posted to Instagram, she wrote: “It’s me your tiny, highly emotional, italian, and now grammy award winning friend,” Grande captioned the cute clip. “I’m super tarnished lol. but super grateful. thank u for everything. myron is in my arms n he says hi as well.”
Grande regularly spends time with Myron. In January she shared a photo on Instagram Stories, where Myron was seen resting his head on her shoulder while Grande appeared to wear a sweatshirt of Miller’s reading, “I’m not a rapper.”
