Victoria Beckham couldn’t have been happier to see Meghan Markle wearing one of her designs to Christmas Day church services this past year.

The British fashion designer, who attended the royal wedding herself to celebrate Prince Harry and Meghan on May 19, opened up about what it was like to see the Duchess of Sussex in one of her dresses during an appearance on Live! With Kelly and Ryan.

“I mean she looked so beautiful, it was such a lovely surprise to wake up to on Christmas morning,” Beckham said. “You know, I think she’s such a beautiful, strong and wonderful woman – so it was a huge honor!”

For the royal family’s annual walk to church services in the English countryside, Meghan — who is expecting her first child with Harry in the spring — opted for a Victoria Beckham deep navy Wool-Blend Midi Dressand a Victoria Beckham coat with a matching fascinator. She also carried a black leather powder box by the fashion designer.

But interestingly enough, Beckham’s designs weren’t always the style Meghan would immediately think she could pull off up until now.

In May 2017, she spoke to Glamour and revealed that while Beckham’s dresses were something that she admired, but felt they didn’t flatter her body type.

“What I’m starting to learn is, even though things look amazing on the hanger, it doesn’t mean they’re going to look amazing on me,” she told the magazine of her time on the USA series Suits and the influence it had on her style.

Meghan continued, “For example, I love Victoria Beckham dresses, but I don’t have the long torso to support that silhouette.”
