Jones was last in trouble with the law in March 2020, agreeing to a plea deal after being charged with aggravated DWI, possession of an open container, driving without proof of insurance, and a firearm charge. That followed a 2012 DUI charge, a 2015 incident where he fled the scene of an accident that injured a pregnant woman. and a late-2019 disorderly conduct charge.
The 34-year-old was in town as his first fight with Alexander Gustafsson was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame Thursday night. He has not fought since taking a split decision win over Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 in February 2020 in the last defense of his light heavyweight title before relinquishing it.
He has said that he is moving up to heavyweight, but has not been able to come to financial terms with the UFC on a much-discussed fight with heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.
