The UFC announced Friday night that they were informed that former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir failed a USADA drug test that was taken on 3/20, the day of the UFC Fight Night Event where he lost via first round KO to Mark Hunt in Brisbane, Australia.

As is usual in cases like this, the drug failed for is not announced until all the appeals have been completed. USADA will handle the results, management and any potential suspensions. USADA suspensions are two years if it is a performance enhancing agent, which would be disastrous for Mir, who is almost 37.

Mir responded via social media:

Mir had been approved for TRT in Nevada in the past when that type of therapy was deemed acceptable by UFC and various athletic commissions. The two-time heavyweight champion who headlined the most purchased PPV in company history against Brock Lesnar is tied with Tito Ortiz for the most fights in company history with 27.
