MIAMI, FL — Perhaps the airline passenger heard Miami had something of a snake problem. Maybe they were just trying to help when they decided to sneak a python past the sharp-eyed TSA agents at Miami International Airport. No one was fooled.

“TSA Officers at MIA intercepted this Ball or Royal Python artfully concealed inside a hard drive,” TSA announced on social media.

“This organic mass was not explosive, but it shows you can’t hide any threat from us,” TSA added.

TSA’s Sari Koshetz told Patch that a bomb expert was brought into the baggage screening room on Sunday to investigate the organic mass that appeared on a scan of the computer hard drive.

“That is when he discovered the mass was a live snake,” Koshetz explained.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife agents took possession of the snake and officials planned to fine the passenger, according to Koshetz.

“While this mass inside the electronic device was obviously not an imminent terrorist threat to the traveling public, the kind we are always on high alert to, the interception did prevent a possible wildlife threat on an aircraft,” Koshetz explained. “Animals of many species have been known to escape and chew through wires with fatal results.”

Fortunately for the other passengers, the snake missed the flight to Barbados.
