Most years, celebrities get just as enthusiastic about busting out their ugliest holiday sweaters as your turtleneck-wearing grandma with the light-up earrings. But we’ve noticed a shift in seasonal get-ups this year. Lately stars have been getting much more creative when it comes to spreading Christmas cheer. Sure, they’re still repping their sweats (which you can see here), but they’re really taking it a step further with full-on elf costumes, Christmas tree dresses and so much more. So we had to list all our favorite festive finds below, from the tame to totally far-out.
First up is Cleveland Cavaliers player (and perpetual style star) Dwyane Wade. He knew the best way to spread the holiday spirit is through his two talents — fashion and basketball — so he picked out some cool Christmas-themed kicks to wear during his Christmas Day game. “I didn’t know i will be playing on Christmas Day when i decided on this shoe but I’ll make the green work on that day,” he captioned his Instagram photo of his green sneakers with snowflake embroidery and “Xmas” tag.

Mila Kunis had a festively casual Friday last week when she was spotted out in L.A. wearing a Santa Claus and Christmas tree-theme crewneck pullover with skinny jeans and Timberland boots. (There are only so many ugly sweater parties, so you’ve got to get creative if you want to wear them all! )
Next up, is Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Girardi who transformed her blonde tresses into a “pretty mess” of Christmas cheer for Andy’s 12 Doorbells of Christmas Watch What Happens Live special. She arrived in a sexy plunging bodysuit with fishnet tights and red over-the-knee boots, but really got decked out in the beauty department with her long fishtail braid adorned with Christmas tree bulbs, red and green ribbons and gingerbread men.

Lady Gaga also kicked things up with her on-themed outfit by transforming into one of Santa’s naughty elves, “Mistress Claus.”
She went full-out for her a holiday party hosted by her creative team, Haus of Gaga, wearing a lace-up green corset with white lace skirt – then went even more bold with her holiday makeup, adding a glittery smokey eye (find out how to recreate it here!), a gold leaf headband and pointy ears.
The rest of her team’s costumes were equally as impressive with reindeer, Elf and Christmas tree costumes.

But there’s still nothing that can out-do Melissa McCarthy who dressed up as an actual Christmas tree to guest host Jimmy Kimmel Live last week. And if you think wearing a tiered green dress decked out in tinsel and ornaments compete with a angle-themed headpiece was over-the-top, she wore three other more-absurd get-ups throughout the show.
She was also a gingerbread woman, menorah and an actual candy cane at some point throughout the episode, making her the reigning Christmas style champ.
