St. Cloud, Minn. – The No. 5 St. Cloud State University Huskies wrestling team has announced the additions ofQuinten Berres and Cornelious Elliott II.  The two new additions have signed letters of intent and will join the Black and Red for 2015-16 season.

“These two young men possess all the qualities we are looking for from our student-athletes,” said head coach Steve Costanzo.  “They are focused on being champions on and off the mat.  I am really impressed by their maturity levels and looking forward to getting started working with them.”

Quinten Berres

Berres, hails from nearby Kimball Area High School where he is a two-time MSHSL Class A State Champion and four-time state medalist.  He won the 132-pound state title with a 34-1 record as a junior and 126-pound state title as a sophomore with a 39-1 mark.  Berres has also placed third and sixth respectively during his freshman and eighth grade years.  He was named a 2012 USA Wrestling Nationals All-American when he placed fifth in the tournament.  He currently has an overall mark of 161-10 and is the #12 recruit in the country by Wrestling USA Magazine in his respective weight class.  He is the son of Barb and Ken Berres and is interested in studying business administration at SCSU.

Perry Meridian High School student and Indianapolis, Ind. native, Elliott will join the Huskies after finishing third in the 2014 one classification IHSAA championship.  Elliott went 41-4 on the season at 113-pounds.  In addition, he earned FloNationals All-American honors at 113-pounds this past summer when he finished in eighth place.  Elliott is the #28 recruit in the country by Wrestling USA Magazine in his respective weight class.  He is the son of Danielle Davidson and Cornelious Elliott and is interested in studying criminal justice at SCSU.

The Huskies have captured three consecutive NSIC championships in 2012, 2013 and 2014.  SCSU finished in sixth place at the 2014 NCAA Division II championships and finished as the NCAA Division II runners-up at the championships in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

St. Cloud State  resumes competition Saturday, November 22 at the Concordia College Open in Moorhead, Minn.
