Ring of Honor television from this past week featured highlights from Field of Honor at MCU Park. ROH talent appeared alongside a supporting cast from New Japan at the home of the Brooklyn Cyclones baseball team.

Brooklyn native and R&B musician Keith Hardy sang the “The Star Spangled Banner” to open the show.

ROH World Television Champion Bobby Fish defeated EVIL to retain the TV title

When known just as Watanabe before joining Los Ingobernables de Japon, EVIL won a gauntlet match last year in the same ballpark to earn a TV title shot here one year later.

Fish started off like a house of fire throwing kicks. EVIL cheated by raking the eyes. Fish came back throwing more kicks. Fish went for a submission, only for them to soon begin brawling around ringside, which was in the infield. EVIL hit Fish with a folding chair.  He hung a chair around the neck of Fish, then rammed the chair into the ringpost.

After a commercial break, Fish was miraculously making a comeback. EVIL cut him off and executed a fisherman’s buster. Both were down but they rose with fighting spirit to exchange strikes. Fish delivered a falcon arrow and applied a kneebar. EVIL tapped out and Fish retained the ROH TV title via submission.

Michael Elgin defeated Donovan Dijak w/ Prince Nana

Taped in late August before Elgin lost his title to Tetsuya Naito, here in this match Elgin was still defending the IWGP Intercontinental title. On TV, they played up Elgin having the title with no mention of him having already lost the belt. Being an IWGP IC title match, Tiger Hattori was the referee. Keeping his distance, he stayed out of the way so they could do a lot of power moves.

The crowd was chanting for Big Mike as he gave Dijak a buckle bomb, but Dijak countered with a sit-out powerbomb for a near fall. A slugfest developed before Dijak hoisted up Elgin with a chokebreaker, followed by a moonsault for another near fall. Elgin gave Dijak a DVD on the apron, and Big Mike then climbed the turnbuckles.

Prince Nana caused a distraction, allowing Dijak to press slam Elgin off the top. Elgin would counter a moment later as he suplexed Dijak off the top turnbuckle, then hit some strikes, and used a buckle bomb to set up an Elgin bomb for the pinfall.

The Young Bucks, Yujiro Takahashi & Hangman Page defeated Motor City Machine Guns, ACH & Lio Rush

As if he hit a home run, ACH ran around the bases before the match and slid into ring, which was over home plate.

The match itself was quite a spectacle. Too many high spots to call that even the announcers, Kevin Kelly and Steve Corino, admitted so much as just that. Everybody got to shine, but Lio Rush especially stood out. Bullet Club got heat on him until he made a hot tag.

ACH cleaned house off the hot tag with incredible aerial moves. The announcers took note of ACH using a version of a falling backbreaker that was the finisher of ROH alumnus Roderick Strong.

The babyface all stars ran wild until Bullet Club cut them off. Hangman Page dropped Chris Sabin into the Right of Passage as the Young Bucks also hit dual superkicks. Page then covered Sabin for the pin.

Also from the Field of Honor event, a Women of Honor match featuring Taeler Hendrix vs. Deonna Purrazzo from an ongoing weekly series on YouTube led into the most recent WOH match made available this week, Hendrix & Jessicka Havok vs. Purrazzo & Mandy Leon.

Other recent YouTube videos from ROH include Adam Cole confronting Bull James and updates from 10/4 and 10/5 plugging upcoming live events.

On the next episode of ROH TV seen airing this weekend in syndication, more from Field of Honor including Katsuyori Shibata vs. Kyle O’Reilly and the main event from the ballpark show, Adam Cole vs. Jay Lethal vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Tetsuya Naito in four corner survival for the ROH World Championship.
