“In the 1st year, I did not adapt very well. I was not ready because it was too rapid a change for me. I had only been a professional footballer for 6 months at Benfica and all of a sudden, I moved to one of the best clubs in the world. When I arrived there, everything was completely different. But from the beginning of the second year, I started to adapt. I wanted to stay, but things did not go as I wanted. Despite it all, it was significant for me to play at Bayern Munich, I learned a lot. It is there where I became more mature, more adult-like.”
“People talk a lot without knowing anything. They are not there on a daily basis. My lifestyle was that of a normal young person. I would train, I would go home, I spent virtually all my time at home. Sometimes, I would go out to a restaurant, like everyone does. When things were not going well on the pitch, the people that don’t know you really that well look for criticisms to explain it. But I had a normal life, I was professional.”
