Daniel “Greg” Kerkvliet was at the University of Minnesota last September training for the Junior World Championships when injury struck.
“I knew something was not right,” Kerkvliet said. “(My knee) bent inwards and I heard a couple cracks and pops.”

The result was a torn left ACL and MCL, and on Sept. 17, Kerkvliet went under the knife. Four months later, the best high school wrestler in the state — and possibly the country — is set to return to action Thursday when his Simley team takes on Tartan in a dual match.
Kerkvliet, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound senior who wrestles in the heavyweight division, initially was told his recovery period would take six to nine months. Continue reading at www.twincities.com
