The New York Post has an article looking at the WWE stock dropping by 14.7% on Monday after announcing the new WWE Network subscriber count of 1.3 million.

Critics are saying WWE is doing the wrong thing by continually offering free month subscriptions of the Network.

“They’re training fans to subscribe only to those events they really want to see,” a long-time observer told The Post. “There’s no penalty for ending a subscription and then picking it up again.”

The article does point out that WWE is making a smart move by bringing in outside attractions, such as Jerry Springer and Seth Green, to try and bring in a different audience.

“Partnering with outside creative talent will hopefully create some stickiness to the channel past their cornerstone events,” said media veteran Eric Sherman.
