RMC report today that a duo of Kolo Touré and Brendan Rodgers have convinced United States international striker Timothy Weah to join Celtic on loan from PSG next month.

The 18-year-old confirmed his departure from the capital club on loan via Instagram this morning, having formally asked PSG to allow him to depart temporarily several weeks ago.

Amiens, Strasbourg, Rennes and Caen all made proposals and attempted to convince the teenager, but Brendan Rodgers was able to play a significant role in Weah’s final decision.

Kolo Touré, now one of Rodgers’ assistants, also spoke with Weah about making a loan move to Scottish champions Celtic.

The arrival of Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting at the end of the summer transfer window relegated Weah out of the PSG 1st team.

The player has agreed to join Celtic on loan in principle, but has yet to undergo a medical.

Weah did not confirm which club he would be joining when he announced his loan departure earlier today:

“I will miss the stadium, and the energy that the fans bring to each match… I hope that after these 6 months, I will be able to come back to the Parc des Princes to give my all for you. I am proud to be Parisian.”
