Fabrizio Romano reports that German defender Jérôme Boateng is closing in on a move to Lyon, and has now completed his medical and agreed a contract with Les Gones.

The former Bayern Munich defender, now a free agent, has agreed to join the club and is set to become Marcelo’s replacement, after the Brazilian was demoted to the reserves for attitude issues.

The German has won the Bundesliga nine times over the course of his spell in Bavaria, and is a two-time Champions League winner.
