According to SFR Sport, Luxembourg businessman Gérard Lopez is having serious second thoughts about purchasing Ligue 1 club LOSC Lille, have entered into exclusive negotiations with the current ownership last month.
The former Lotus F1 Team owner is worried about LOSC’s poor performances at present and believes that there is a real possibility that they might be relegated to Ligue 2 this season.
Initially, the plan had been to buy the club but only begin investing in the summer. However, Luis Campos, Lopez’s special advisor, is now calling for an immediate overhaul of the club should they still come in, including the arrival of a new manager and the purchase of 4 or 5 new players in the January transfer window.
The relevant parties have entered into the final stage of negotiations, but Lopez and his investors are wondering whether or not this project is simply too risky.
