This week’s WWE Network Hidden Gems additions features Mae Young Classic 2018 participants. One has Victoria vs. Mercedes Martinez from the 6/12/06 episode of Sunday Night Heat. The other is a bout from the 2/9/97 episode of WCW Worldwide, where Meiko Satomura teamed with Madusa to take on Akira Hokuto and Kaoru.
WWE paid tribute to Burt Reynolds, who passed away today, on their website. He was a guest at WrestleMania X, where he did ring announcing for the main event between Yokozuna and Bret Hart.
Bret Hart wrote about Reynolds’ passing: “I had the pleasure to see Burt recently. Although visibly frail, he remembered me. I thanked him for his part of Wrestlemania X. He was a real fan, thoroughly enjoyed the event, the wrestlers & fans. He was a class act and I’m honoured to have been able to tell him that. R.I.P.”
Big Show talked to CBS SF Bay Area about his weight loss, saying that John Cena was the one who inspired him to lose weight.
Braun Strowman turns 35 years old today.
HBO has renewed Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s show “Ballers” for a fifth season.

New Japan will have their first live broadcast since the G1 finals with the first Road to Destruction event tomorrow morning at 5:30 a.m. EDT. Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi will team up to take on Tomohiro Ishii and Will Ospreay in the main event.
Shingo Takagi, who has wrestled for Dragon Gate since his wrestling debut in 2004, announced today that he will be going freelance following Dragon Gate’s show in Hakata on 10/7.
Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that for the second time in the last 30 days, Justin Credible was arrested on 9/5 for violating a restraining order. Bond was set at $50,000, a sharp increase from $7,500 when he was arrested on 8/14 for violating a protective order. 
Ring of Honor paid tribute to Mike Hogewood on their website. He did announcing for their ROH on HDNet show from 2009-2011.
New Japan has released the first part of a Katsuyori Shibata documentary called “California Dreamin’”, where he talks about his move to California.
Colt Cabana documented All In weekend on this week’s episode of his Art of Wrestling podcast.
Ohio Valley Wrestling will tape its 1,000th episode on 10/10. It will feature appearances from Hurricane Helms, Billy Gunn, Tommy Dreamer and Abyss.
Aside from Strowman, other birthdays today include Jillian Hall (38), Low Ki (39), The Barbarian (60) and Wendi Richter (57).
UFC/MMA
The UFC uploaded episode three of Embedded for Saturday’s PPV.
Darren Till’s nutritionist is “110 percent” confident that Till will make weight for his welterweight title fight against Tyron Woodley on Saturday.
Holly Holm underwent surgery for an injured meniscus yesterday and will need approximately four weeks of recovery time. Holm wants to return in the first quarter of 2019 and challenge for Amanda Nunes’ women’s bantamweight title.
Antonina Shevchenko, the older sister of Valentina Shevchenko, will make her UFC debut on the Ultimate Fighter finale card on November 30, according to ESPN. She will reportedly face Ashlee Evans-Smith in a 125 pound fight.
Duane Ludwig and TJ Dillashaw will be on Joe Rogan’s podcast on September 12.
Kevin “Baby Slice” Ferguson Jr., son of Kimbo Slice, is set to make his lightweight debut at Bellator 207. He will be facing Corey Browning.
Prelim bouts for Bellator 207 on 10/12 include Tim Caron vs. Reginaldo Felix (middleweight), Blair Tugman vs. Peter Barrett (lightweight), Nicholas Giulietti vs. Alex Ortiz (lightweight) and Lisa Blaine vs. Alexandra Ballou (women’s flyweight).
