CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – St. Olaf wrestlers Garrett Beaman and Zachary Gibson competed at the 2016 NCAA Division III Championships today at the U.S. Cellular Center.
Beaman wrestled at 174 lbs and fell to Garrett Chase of Baldwin Wallace with a 5-4 decision. He then went on to win his next two matches within the losers bracket and will wrestle tomorrow morning against Joshua Sibblies of Centenary. With two more wins, Beaman will find himself wrestling for third place on Saturday afternoon.
Gibson lost in the first round at 285 lbs against Tyler Maher of Stevens Institute of Tech 4-1. In the losers bracket her took on Clay Broze of UW-Lacrosse and lost with a 5-1 decision. He finishes his senior season with an 18-7 individual record.
