Burglars, possibly afraid of police dogs, returned the gold jewellery worth 16 lakh they had stolen from a 40-year-old woman a week after the theft.

Imthiyas Aboobacker of Chinnasamy Street in Perambur had stepped out with her children on August 26. When the family returned around 10:30pm, they found the door broken open and valuables missing. Aboobacker immediately lodged a complaint with the Sembium police.
