Malakai Black vs. Cody Rhodes has been announced for AEW’s Homecoming edition of Dynamite on August 4th, announced during Wednesday’s Fyter Fest

The show is set for Jacksonville, Florida’s Daily’s Place — the first time they have returned to the arena since last month’s farewell show following the pandemic.

Black made his debut appearance on Dynamite back on July 7, interrupting an Arn Anderson promo. He knocked out Anderson with the Black Mass kick and when Rhodes went to check on him, Black laid out him out with the kick as well. 

The following week, Rhodes called out Black on commentary for what he did and then called him out to the ring. Black initially responded to Rhodes via video from backstage, telling a story about a man killing his horse because it was crippled. Rhodes challenged Black to come out and fight. The lights went out and when they came back on, Black was in the ring. The two brawled with security coming in to separate them.

This is the only match announced for the show at this point.
