MARSHALL, Minn. – Southwest Minnesota State University junior wrestlers Ethan Hildebrandt and Micah Larson were recently named to the 12-member Capital One Academic All-District VII At-Large team. The announcement was made by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

District VII is made up of member schools of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, the Mid-America Athletic Association and the Great American Conference. The At-Large team consists of student-athletes that compete in golf, lacrosse, tennis, wrestling, swimming, ice hockey and gymnastics.

A native of St. James, Minn., Hildebrandt has compiled a 3.80 GPA as an education major. Hildebrandt finished the 2012-13 season with an 11-11 record at 141 pounds, including recording three victories by fall. He has twice been named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division II All-Academic team and is also a two-time Academic All-NSIC honoree.

Larson, a native of Atwater, Minn., has compiled a 3.74 GPA in ag business and finished this past season with a record of 17-12 at 194 pounds with nine wins by fall. Larson has twice been named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division II All-Academic team and is also a two-time Academic All-NSIC honoree.

Hildebrandt is a 2010 graduate of St. James High School, while Larson is a 2009 graduate of Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City High School.

Nominations and voting for the Academic All-America programs are conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Hildebrandt and Larson are the fourth and fifth SMSU student-athletes to earn first team Academic All-District during the 2012-13 academic year, along with a pair of first team Academic All-Americans. In the past two academic years, SMSU has 10 first team Academic All-District honorees, three first team Academic All-Americans and two third team Academic All-Americans.

To be nominated for all-district honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
